China Press said Tuesday February 12, 2008 that the singer-actor became depressed over the sex scandal issue and avoided eating food for days in depression and fear. He had also reportedly confined himself to his home in the United States for days, where he fled to after the controversy erupted. Newspapers have reported that Edison Chen’s image hit rock bottom after the scandal came to light. Several companies which had sought Chen’s endorsement for their products have also terminated their contracts with the star. I personally think that this entire attempting suicide claim from Edison Chen is a bid for the suicide sympathy vote. Cause if he really wanted to die, Edison would have showed his face in Hong Kong over the weekend. I mean why attempt to kill yourself if they are hundreds of Triads gangster willing to do it for you. If Edison had a dead wish, his lawyers would not be proposing a deal with police for 24-hour police protection, a safe house and a guarantee of his status as a witness. He seems like a man concern about his safe and he want certain guarantees before he return to answer questions in Hong Kong. Some other interesting guarantees demanded by Edison Chen from the Hong Kong Police come from fears of being turned into a suspect after the police investigate the case further. He wants a guarantee he will not be charge under any circumstance after he return as a witness. The media revealed yesterday that Edison Chen had been actually proposing to Vincy Yeung all this time while in Boston.
